Counselling
Takes place in a private and confidential setting like all our services to ascertain the difficulty the client may be having or who feel for the moment they cannot solve this difficulty on their own. Counselling is a way of enabling choice or of reducing confusion. It does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action. Many people are nervous at first glance in what is a new environment setting but these feelings soon disappear. It can be hard to take the first step but whatever your problem big or small you will be made welcome here.
Homeopathy
Is based on treating individuals in the form of a highly diluted substance normally in the form of a tablet, which starts off a cascade of events triggering the body's natural system of healing.
Scientifically it is difficult to explain how homeopathy works but the basis is of a holistic approach. The homeopath is looking to understand how you experience your symptoms and how they effect your life, so they can match your symptoms with the most appropriate medicine.
Osteopathy
System of diagnosis and treatment of a number of medical conditions. The underlying principle of this treatment works on the basis that the wellbeing of the individual is dependant on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue of the body working easily with one another. Osteopaths use a series of methods such as physical manipulation, touch, massage and stretching techniques to aid the movement of joints, ease muscle tension, increase circulation and trigger the body's own healing mechanism. They also give advise on posture and exercise to aid recovery preventing symptoms from re-occuring.
Sports and Remedial Massage
These two techniques are often combined with one another. Remedial Massage takes a more serious role other than just relieving pain. The practioner needs to be able to understand how the problem came about and how it can be avoided in the future. Sports Massage is a specialist area within remedial therapy and relies on the same principles as remedial massage. The element of sports massage cannot occur as a single entity without remedial skills because although this may be enough to take away the client's pain at that point in time, this does not offer them a remedy.
Acupuncture
Acupuncturists are trained to use subtle diagnostic techniques. The underlying principle works on the basis that the body's qi or vital energy is unable to flow freely and this brings about illness and pain. There are a number of reasons for this restriction of flow; poor nutrition, physical and emotional stress and infection and injury to name but a few. With the insertion of ultra-fine sterile needles into specific acupuncture points, an acupuncturist will seek to allow the free flow of qi to restore balance and aid in the body's natural healing process.
